Mr. Bentzel is a 1979 graduate of Kent State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from The University of Akron School of Law in 1982.  He was admitted to the Bar in 1983. As an attorney, Mr. Bentzel maintained a private practice in Navarre, Ohio from 1983-2015. During the period from 1978-1989 he also worked at UPS, primarily in supervision.

Shortly after retiring from the practice of law, Mr. Bentzel joined Heritage Christian School as the Director of Development, the position he currently holds. In addition to his duties in the Development office, Mr. Bentzel heads up the Volunteer Program, Enrichment Clubs, and Athletics. From 2013-2018, he served as the varsity golf coach.

Mr. Bentzel describes his time at Heritage Christian School as follows:

“It is a blessing to work in an environment with fellow Believers who are dedicated to providing our students with quality Bible-based instruction. I consider it a joy and a privilege to serve here.”

He is a member of Sixteen St. John’s Church in North Lawrence, Ohio where he has been on the church board for over 30 years. Mr. Bentzel loves the Lord who fills him with joy every day.

He draws upon Nehemiah 8:10: “The joy of the Lord is my strength.”
