Substitute Teacher

Heritage Christian School is in need of substitute teachers for grades Kindergarten through 8. Substitutes can limit the grade ranges that they prefer to teach. Substitute licenses are required. Candidates with any four-year degree can apply to the state for a non-tax license for a fee. The state of Ohio also currently allows people to be a substitute teacher without a college degree. Background checks are required. Please see the additional responsibilities below:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction at the elementary and secondary level

  • Willing and able to teach Bible

  • Able to handle, order, and use properly all needed supplies for all classes

  • Maintain online attendance and lunch orders

  • Inspire students to hold themselves to high standards of academic achievement and character

  • Demonstrate positive classroom management as well as carrying out discipline procedures as needed

  • Maintain a clean, positive user-friendly, safe classroom.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information regarding students, families, and teachers.

  • Serve as a role model for students and staff through professionalism in all areas, including appearance, responsibility and positive customer service.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Substitute teaching license (we can walk you through this process.)

  • Able to accept and uphold the Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of HCS.

  • Agreeable to terms set forth in the HCS Personnel Manual and Teacher Agreement.

  • Ability to create a class environment in which students feel safe, supported and challenged to engage deeply in meaningful work.

  • An unshakable conviction that all students can learn at a high level.

  • Able to pass Ohio Revised Code required Background Check and drug test.
