Diabetic Student Aide

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Accompany student in classes, lunch, and other school activities to assist with monitoring blood sugar and symptoms.

  • Program food information into computer device

  • Check for blood sugar and ketones as needed manually

  • Adjust student activities as needed per the diabetic recommendations

  • Communicate with the school nurse, office staff and parent

  • Assist in other departments if the student is absent

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Able to read and understand diabetic information and systems after training

  • Able to sit/stand/walk the majority of the shift

  • Able to climb stairs

  • Work independently without direct supervision

  • Abide by Heritage Christian School Statement of Faith and Philosophy

  • Able to pass Ohio Revised Code required background check and drug/alcohol testing
