Auction A Great Success!

Conquering Our Future Dinner and Auction

See Pictures here!

Thanks to the generosity of dozens of area businesses, organizations, churches, and families, our Heritage Dinner and Benefit Auction achieved the goal of raising $20,000 for Heritage! More than 200 parents, community members, students, staff and alumni gathered on Saturday, March 27 at the Meyers Lake Ballroom to celebrate Heritage and raise funds to benefit the future of our students.

The evening began with time to view and bid on more than 130 silent auction items and packages donated by many generous organizations.  There was a huge variety of items to bid on, including hand-crafted corn-hole games and a Blu-Ray player.  Many businesses donated their services including driving lessons, financial counselling and landscaping. One table consisted solely of items or services donated by our Heritage students and staff.  Heritage donations included priceless classroom treasures such as a handprint and photo quilt, and a thumbprint ceramic cookie jar and plate. Heritage secondary students graciously donated their time to provide homemade baked goods, babysitting, and yardwork.  Thank you also for the generous support of the event sponsors for their donations.

A delicious buffet dinner was catered by the staff of Mr. Mike's Catering, and the meal received very good reviews! Tables of mouth-watering desserts including Ho-Ho cake were provided by Sammons Sweets & Treats. Following dinner, Mr. Jim Cassler, chair of the development committee, auctioned off five cheesecakes that were made by Heidi Sammons, and which were happily bid on by attendees.

The after-dinner program included musical performances by HCS students under the direction of Heritage music director Mrs. Andrea Clemens. An ensemble of fourth graders played recorders, including a rendition of Amazing Grace; and middle school and high school students performed on the drums, trumpet and clarinet, accompanied by Mrs. Clemens and Heritage 2nd grade teacher Miss Sara Yackey.

Mr. Cassler addressed the crowd about Heritage and its needs, including the possibility of a new gymnasium, and how that could benefit Heritage. He reviewed the improvements made to the facilities thus far this year, and the hope for the future, asking the audience to participate in supporting our future. The presentation also featured photos of a "100th Day of School Project" created by a Heritage third grader, which used a large cardboard box to represent our building. The back of the building showed the renditions of the proposed new gymnasium and the sides of the building showed our newly-adopted mission: A - Academic Achievement; B - Bible-based; C - Community Commitment. What a blessing to see such a young student excited about our future and our mission!

The silent auction continued with much laughter, and conversation, as bidders tried to win their favorite items. During the bidding, attendees enjoyed the opportunity to take photos with our live Conqueror mascot, played by Heritage parent and area minister, Galen Oakes.

The Heritage Live Auction was filled with fun and laughter as Mr. Richard Kiko of Kiko Auctioneers and Realtors compelled the crowd to raise their yellow bid cards in support of Heritage. He expressed that he himself had had students at Heritage and believes in the education they received. Heritage parent Greg Maxin worked alongside Mr. Kiko to describe and define live auction items, keeping the crowd entertained and laughing. One of the highlights from the live auction was the purchase of the rights to name the main hall of the school building. The winning bidder announced that the hall will be named in honor of retired HCS teacher, Mrs. Carol Moosey, who was in attendance that evening and who recently retired from full-time teaching after 32 years at Heritage.

Investing in the students at Heritage Christian School is an investment in the future -- for now and for eternity. Thank you to the businesses and individuals who supported us. We encourage you to patronize the businesses and organizations that demonstrate a desire to support the great work of Christian education. Auction PHOTOS are coming soon!
