HERITAGE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL GOLF PROGRAM
At Heritage Christian School, our golfers participate in the “3G Program” where their priorities must be as follows:
While I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to work on the fundamentals of golf with our boys and girls on the team, I believe that each member must first honor God with their thoughts, words and actions. Secondly, we strive to have our golfers make academics a priority as well.
In recent years, the majority of our golfers at Heritage Christian joined the program with virtually no previous experience playing the game. It is indeed a great joy to watch these young men and women learn to play, improve their skills, and at the same time develop a respect and appreciation for the game of golf. For many, it is a game that they will carry with them for many years beyond high school. It truly can be a game for life.
It is indeed an honor and a privilege to coach golf at Heritage Christian School. With plans to encourage more involvement with our upper elementary and middle school students along with a 250% growth in the number of high school participants in the last three years, I believe that the future for the Heritage Christian School golf program looks very promising.

Our 2016 team had a great year. After posting a regular season record of 11-8, the boys participated in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament at Salem Hills Golf Club in Salem, Ohio. As a team, Heritage Christian School finished in 4th place with an 18-hole score of 375 and just missed advancing to the District Tournament by a mere two strokes. Two of our golfers shot Sectional scores of 85. As a result, they each participated in a four-man playoff to determine which two players would advance to the District Tournament as individuals. Junior Bryan Brooks qualified and represented Heritage Christian at the District Tournament at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance, Ohio. During the past two seasons, several girls have joined our golf team. In 2015, history was made as junior Sarah Laird became the first golfer from Heritage Christian School to participate in the OHSAA Girls’ Sectional Tournament at Riceland Golf Course in Orrville, Ohio. Although our girls currently play on the boys’ team, strategies are in place to hopefully soon have enough girls playing golf to form a team of their own.
